Is a structured two-year training initiative designed to prepare qualified men for vocational ministry within the New Testament church.
The program seeks to address common barriers facing emerging ministry candidates—such as limited professional experience,
a lack of formal theological education, and insufficient exposure to practical ministry contexts—by offering
a comprehensive pathway toward pastoral readiness.
The Residency aligns with Fusion Church’s mission to Reach the Seeker, Strengthen the Servant, and Launch the Saint,
and reflects the church’s commitment to developing biblically grounded, spiritually mature, and missionaly focused leaders
for service both within the local fellowship and throughout the global church.

Program Components

Residents will participate in a holistic formation process that includes:
Academic Theological Training
Fusion Church will subsidize up to $9,000 per year in tuition toward accredited graduate studies. While residents may enroll in the seminary of their choice, Fusion Church partners with Luther Rice College and Seminary, offering enhanced benefits to participants who pursue studies through this institution.
Expository Preaching Certification
All residents will enroll in the Cutting It Straight Institute for Expository Preaching, beginning March 9, 2026. This program, founded by HB Charles, Jr., provides rigorous homiletical instruction, mentorship, and graduate-level transferable credit.
Supervised Ministry Experience
Each resident will serve 20–30 hours per week within a specialized ministry area—such as Student Ministry, Children’s Ministry, Senior Adult Ministry, Church Planting, or Administrative Leadership—under the oversight of pastoral staff. Responsibilities will include discipleship, evangelism, small group leadership, event planning, and additional ministry assignments as appropriate.
Professional and Spiritual Development
Weekly staff engagements, sermon preparation sessions, residency seminars, conferences, retreats, and workshops will foster both practical competency and spiritual maturity.
Financial and Logistical Support
Residents will engage in structured support-raising, receiving training through Fusion Church’s partner organization, Reliant. Fusion Church provides local housing and contributes $5,000 annually toward each resident’s support goal.

Qualifications and Expectations

Applicants must demonstrate evidence of biblical calling and character consistent with 1 Timothy 3:1–7, Titus 1:5–9, and 1 Peter 5:1–4,
affirm the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, and maintain active membership within a Southern Baptist–affiliated church. Additional requirements
include teachability, interpersonal skills, a commitment to servant leadership, and the capacity to function effectively within a ministry team.
Program Outcomes
Upon completion, residents will be equipped academically, professionally, and spiritually to pursue
ministry positions either within Fusion Church or in partnership with other churches and ministries. Fusion Church
will actively support graduates in securing placements aligned with their calling and gifting.

Application Process

pastoral staff.
