Day 1: The Authority Behind the Order

Reading: 1 Timothy 1:1-3; Matthew 16:18; Colossians 1:18

Devotional: The church does not belong to its most influential members, its longest-standing families, or its most gifted leaders. Christ purchased it with His own blood, and He alone holds authority over it. Paul did not write to Timothy as a man offering suggestions. He wrote as an apostle commissioned by divine command. This means the instructions Paul gave carry the full weight of Christ's authority. When we approach Scripture, we must resist the temptation to filter God's commands through personal preference or cultural convenience. A rightly ordered life, like a rightly ordered church, begins with submission. Ask yourself today: In what areas have I placed my preferences above Christ's commands?

Day 2: The Danger of Doctrinal Drift

Reading: 1 Timothy 1:4-7; Galatians 5:9; Jude 3

Devotional: Doctrinal drift rarely announces itself. It begins with a small turn, a slight adjustment, a minor compromise that feels reasonable in the moment. The false teachers in Ephesus did not abandon the faith overnight. They swerved first, then wandered, and eventually their teaching became empty and harmful. Paul's warning is not directed only at professional theologians or church leaders. Every believer is responsible for knowing what they believe and why. Confidence without biblical grounding is not faithfulness; it is spiritual danger. Examine the teaching you receive regularly. Does it point you toward Christ and His Word, or does it produce speculation and distraction? Guard what you allow to shape your convictions.

Day 3: Truth That Transforms

Reading: 1 Timothy 1:5; John 17:17; Ephesians 4:15; James 1:22

Devotional: Sound doctrine was never meant to be a trophy displayed on a shelf. Paul makes clear that the goal of right teaching is love flowing from a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith. Truth is not the enemy of love; it is the foundation of it. When the Word of God takes root in a person's heart, it does not produce arrogance. It produces humility, compassion, integrity, and genuine devotion to Christ. If your theological knowledge is not making you more patient, more honest, and more Christlike, something has gone wrong in how you are receiving it. Ask God today to let His truth move from your mind into your daily conduct.

Day 4: What the Law Reveals

Reading: 1 Timothy 1:8-10; Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7; Galatians 3:24

Devotional: The law of God is good because God Himself is good. Its purpose is not to provide a ladder for self-improvement but to serve as a mirror that reveals the truth about our condition before a holy God. When we look honestly into God's law, every excuse falls away and every pretense of self-righteousness is stripped bare. The law silences us before it sends us searching. And that is precisely where God intends for it to lead us, not to despair, but to Christ. The diagnosis the law provides is painful, but it is necessary. A person who does not understand their sickness will never reach for the cure. Let God's Word show you your need today.

Day 5: The Gospel at the Center

Reading: 1 Timothy 1:11; 1 Corinthians 2:2; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 1:16

Devotional: Everything in a rightly ordered church orbits around one center: the gospel of Jesus Christ. The law exposes the wound, but the gospel provides the only cure. Christ lived the righteous life we have failed to live. He died as the substitute for guilty sinners, bore the full judgment of God, and rose bodily from the grave on the third day. This is not one message among many. It is the message upon which everything else depends. Paul describes it as the gospel of the glory of the blessed God, a treasure entrusted to the church, not to be altered, softened, or set aside. Carry it with reverence. Proclaim it with courage. Build your life upon it without reservation.
